GREENSBORO, N.C., December 12, 2005 – Time Warner Cable Business Services and the Greensboro, High Point and Winston-Salem Chambers of Commerce are pleased to announce Magnet America as the first annual winner of the Business Accelerator Award. The Time Warner Cable Business Accelerator Award recognizes small business innovation and excellence in the Piedmont Triad.
Magnet America is the original creator of the yellow "Support Our Troops" ribbon magnet and employs 25 people in the Triad. As a leader in the automobile magnet industry, Magnet America has expanded their product line to include many other patriotic designs such as POW/MIA, God Bless the USA, and In God We Trust.
“In the competitive small business market, Magnet America has demonstrated success in their growth and community relations,” said Ken Fitzpatrick, senior vice president, Time Warner Cable Business Services. “The pool of applicants for the Business Accelerator Award was outstanding and exemplifies the growing prosperity of the Piedmont Triad.”
Businesses were evaluated on several criteria including superiority in finance, marketing, operations and community relations. Applications were evaluated by a panel of seasoned business professionals in the Piedmont Triad. Magnet America received the grand prize, valued at up to $15,000, consisting of a full suite of commercial data and video services for one year, along with office supplies.
“Time Warner Cable Business Services in Greensboro is proud of the work our small businesses are doing in the Piedmont Triad,” said Jack Stanley, president of the Time Warner Cable Greensboro Division. “It is with great pleasure that we recognize Magnet America as the winner of the Business Accelerator Award.”
Working in partnership with the Greensboro, High Point and Winston-Salem Chambers of Commerce, Time Warner Cable solicited applications from local small businesses that were less than five years old and employed fewer than 100 people.
“Time Warner Cable Business Services is a valued partner in the community and a strong supporter of small business success,” said David Jameson, president, Greensboro Chamber of Commerce. “It is our pleasure to participate in a program that highlights the small business community in the Piedmont Triad.”
The Time Warner Cable Business Accelerator Award was announced at the State of the Triad event on December 8, 2005. In addition to the winner being announced, two semi-finalists were also named – Carolina On-Site Fleet Services, Inc. and Mad Science of the Piedmont.
